#### This article helps you:

- Build and manage more complex user segments within the Segmentation Module.
- Create a behavioral cohort from within the Segmentation Module.

This article expands on the Segmentation Module material covered in [adding events](/docs/analytics/charts/build-charts-add-events) and [user segments](/docs/analytics/charts/build-charts-add-user-segments) to Amplitude charts.

## Before you begin

Events don't appear in any Amplitude charts until instrumentation is complete, so make sure that's done. If you haven't done so already, read the introductory article on [building charts in Amplitude](/docs/analytics/charts/chart-basics), which covers the material this article expands on. Also, familiarize yourself with the [list of Amplitude definitions](/docs/get-started/helpful-definitions), and read about [behavioral cohorts](/docs/analytics/behavioral-cohorts).

## Add a list of property values

You can include a custom list of property values instead of selecting them from the dropdown list. This helps when you want to include or exclude a large number of property values from your analysis. To do this, copy a list of comma-separated values to your clipboard and paste it into the _Search or enter a value_ box. Then click _Select All_, followed by _Apply_.

For example, if you've instrumented "email" as a user property, paste the following string instead of selecting each value one at a time:

```
abe@datamonster.com,bebe@datamonster.com,cece@datamonster.com,didi@datamonster.com
```

{% callout type="note" %}
Don't select the _freeform_ value after pasting. Click _Select All_ instead.
{% /callout %}

## Rename a segment

By default, Amplitude appends the value of each property you select to the segment's name. If you have a complex or strictly defined segment, this can become cumbersome.

For example, the chart below has two segments, where each segment is defined by four different properties, which makes the default name hard to read.

To change the default name, hover over it and click. Changing the segment name also changes the chart labels.

To save this segment for future reuse, click _Saved > Save Segment_.

## Create inline behavioral cohorts

You can create simple behavioral cohorts inline within the Segmentation Module, without navigating to the [_Behavioral Cohorts_ tab](/docs/analytics/behavioral-cohorts).

To do so, click _+ Performed_ before adding user properties to your segment. For example, the following chart shows the number of users who both viewed an article in the last 30 days and used the search feature at least three times in a day.

For more information on the clauses available in the dropdowns to create cohorts, refer to [behavioral cohorts in Amplitude](/docs/analytics/behavioral-cohorts).

## Historical count

The historical count feature applies to all events in the Event Segmentation chart. For more information, refer to the [historical count](/docs/analytics/historical-count-1) documentation.
