# The Amplitude Home page

> For AI agents: a documentation index is available at [/docs/llms.txt](/docs/llms.txt). Append `.md` to any page URL for markdown, or send `Accept: text/markdown`.

The Amplitude Home page shows how many users you have, how many are new, where they are, and what they're doing, alongside your last five visited items, a shortcut to create a chart, and a link to the template gallery. Click _Home_ in the top-left corner to open it.

Use the Home page when you want a default overview without configuring anything. If you need a persistent view tailored to a team or workflow, build a custom [dashboard](https://amplitude.com/docs/analytics/dashboard-create) instead.

After you get comfortable creating your own analyses in Amplitude, you can replace the included charts with others that fit your organization.

The **real-time event stream** shows what your users are doing in your product at any given moment. The stream lists the most recent events your users have triggered. Click any event to [generate an Event Segmentation chart](https://amplitude.com/docs/analytics/user-data-lookup) screen.

To open an empty Event Segmentation chart, click _Create a chart_ under _Quick Actions_. You then fill in the events and properties yourself. To view all available dashboard templates, click _Start from a template_ to go to the [template gallery](https://amplitude.com/docs/get-started/start-from-template).

In the template gallery, you can open a template, modify it by adding your own relevant events, and save it as a new dashboard.

If you aren't sure what any of these terms mean, click through the links in this article to read more about them in the Help Center.
