# Heatmaps

Heatmaps uses Session Replay to turn user interactions into a visual map of engagement on your website or application. Analyze where users click, what they interact with, and how far they scroll to find trends, anomalies, and the areas that drive the most engagement.

## Availability

Customers with the Session Replay addon can use Heatmaps. All users with [View permissions](https://amplitude.com/docs/admin/account-management/user-roles-permissions) can create Heatmaps.

> **Note:** Heatmap retention
>
> Heatmaps use an anonymized session replay that's decoupled from any user behavior and isn't subject to your Session Replay retention period.

> **Note:** Legacy organizations
>
> If you receive a message that states "Heatmaps isn't available for your organization", contact [Amplitude Support](https://gethelp.amplitude.com) to enable Heatmaps.
