Quickstart for growth and marketing teams
This quickstart is for growth marketers, lifecycle managers, and CRO practitioners. Follow these steps to run your first A/B test, launch an in-product guide or survey, and use Session Replay to find where users drop off.
You'll set up
Before you start
An Amplitude account — go to Create a new account if you don't have one.
The Unified Browser SDK installed on your site. If it isn't installed yet, share Quickstart for engineers with your engineering team.
A Member or Admin role in your organization.
Test
Run a web experiment
Web Experiment lets you test changes to your site using a visual editor—no code required for most changes. Create an experiment, define a control and a treatment variant, and set a targeting rule (for example, users who reach a specific page or match a user property).
Amplitude assigns users to variants, tracks exposure automatically, and computes statistical results against the metrics you choose. You don't need to build any assignment or analysis logic yourself.
For a faster start, go to out-of-the-box widgets to launch pre-built banners, modals, and CTAs with one click.
Engage
Launch a guide or survey
Guides & Surveys delivers in-product messages and collects feedback using the same SDK your site already has installed. Target users based on behavior or properties, show onboarding walkthroughs, and trigger satisfaction surveys at key moments.
Go to Build a survey to create your first survey. Choose a template, set display conditions (such as after a user completes a key action), and publish. Amplitude captures all responses and ties them to user behavior data, so you can correlate NPS scores or survey answers with retention and conversion metrics.
Diagnose
Watch where users drop off
Session Replay lets you watch real user sessions and see exactly where users get stuck or abandon a flow. Filter replays by funnel step, rage clicks, or error events to zero in on the sessions most likely to reveal friction.
Start by filtering for sessions where users reached a key step but didn't convert — for example, users who viewed a pricing page but didn't start a trial. Watch a handful of those sessions to identify common patterns.
Session Replay captures sessions at the sample rate you set during SDK initialization. Lower the rate in high-traffic production environments to manage volume and cost.
