Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

At Amplitude, we are challenging the norms and challenging ourselves to foster a truly inclusive culture.

What we believe.

Amplitude believes that fostering a culture of inclusion, grounded in equity and diversity, broadens perspectives, engages employees, encourages team building, and helps create a positive environment in which to work and grow.

We recognize that people of diverse backgrounds — including women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals and beyond — are underrepresented and undervalued within the tech industry.

At Amplitude, we are challenging the norms and challenging ourselves to foster a truly inclusive culture

“DEI is not just one person, it’s something that every Ampliteer has a stake in. If we lead with inclusion, diversity will follow, and our inclusive culture is what makes Amplitude special.”

Nikki Lasley
Head of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

DEI Report

Inclusion at Amplitude means understanding and sharing in our core values- humility, ownership and growth mindset – being authentic in order to create an environment of belonging for all. Studies have shown that increasing diversity without increasing inclusiveness actually negates the positive effects of diversity. To take collective action, we must all have the full picture, and this, our first DEI report works to give us that quantitative data. One company, many beautiful voices.

Our commitment to communities.

Communities are employee-led resource groups centered around shared identities, interests, and activities, designed to help promote connection, inclusivity, and belonging across teams and timezones.

BLACC (Black Leaders at Amplitude Creating Change) strives to increase the hiring of Black people at Amplitude, elevate the profiles of existing Ampliteers and provide a safe space for members, and educate all Ampliteers on Black issues to help build a more inclusive culture.

Community Impact

Community Impact empowers Ampliteers to create positive, sustainable change in our global communities through active charity work in our local communities.

The Empowered ERG aims to serve and celebrate Ampliteers from historically marginalized and underrepresented groups, supporting a company-wide culture that is inclusive, values diversity, and welcomes new perspectives and ideas.

Latinx @ Amplitude empowers its members through professional development, celebrating and embracing cultural diversity, and increasing the representation of the Latinx community at Amplitude.

LEAAP (Leadership, Education, and Advancement for Asian People) champions the celebration and inclusion of Asian people at work by elevating visibility, educating ourselves and others, and creating connection within our communities and beyond to build an inclusive and equitable culture that fosters integration and celebrates diversity.

Veterans @ Amplitude promotes camaraderie and provides a support network for its members, increasing representation of former and current service members at Amplitude, and educating others on the value that veterans bring to organizations.

Product Queens

Product Queens’ mission is to create a safe space for women and other gender minority groups working in product development and to reduce bias across the product development organization.

Parents and Caregivers

Parents and Caregivers @ Amplitude works to remove barriers, give input on policy and decision making, and provide resources that drive stability, compatibility, and success in both the personal and professional lives of working parents.

Women in Tech

Women in Tech works to cultivate an inclusive environment that supports and encourages women to advance their skills and leadership potential through connection, mentorship, collaboration, and discussion.

Rainbow Community

Rainbow Community aspires to create a safe and inclusive environment where ALL employees feel empowered to bring their whole self to work all day, every day. Beyond creating a safe and inclusive environment, we are determined to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues, build Allyship through education, and make a positive impact in the broader community.

Amplitude is passionate about supporting the communities in which we live and work across the globe. Our Community Impact group leads an annual global Walks for Socks challenge, regularly volunteers at the San Francisco Food Bank, and recently recruited mentors for the 100k Mentorship Challenge. Amplitude also runs donation matching campaigns for causes like Black Lives Matter, Pride, Stop Asian Hate, and the Covid19 pandemic, matching 100% of employee donations.

Our anti-racism philosophy.

Anti-racism: [verb] To actively identify, challenge, and change the beliefs, structures, and behaviors that perpetuate systemic racism

At Amplitude, we are committed to Anti-Racism, by which we mean:

  • An internal commitment to dismantle the systems that lead to inequality; a commitment to a culture where every Ampliteer feels respected, valued, and has opportunities for advancement.
  • An external commitment to invest in the communities we want to hire from.

Our vision is to design a culture that leads the way on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; one where people of color whole-heartedly recommend others in their community to work here.

We want to set the bar on how tech companies create cultures of diversity and belonging; we want to be a workplace others look to model themselves after.

Partnership with Tech for Black founders.

Today, only 1% of founders backed by venture capital in the United States are Black. This is appalling and shows how the odds are stacked against Black technologists and entrepreneurs. The onus is on us in the tech community to start evening the odds. In an effort to provide concrete, long-lasting support, we are coming together to make our software completely free to U.S.-based, early-stage startups led by Black founders.

“Amplitude has been phenomenal for us when it comes to understanding trends and user behaviors in our online and mobile applications. Ever since we discovered Amplitude in 2014 they have been improving the product relentlessly and I would highly recommend them as a must-have tool for any tech company building data driven products.”
