Why it matters
Fix conversion leaks before holiday traffic multiplies them
- Small issues become expensive fast. A confusing promo, surprise shipping cost, payment error, or broken mobile form can affect far more shoppers once traffic spikes.
- Fix the highest-risk barrier first. Use real shopper evidence to tell a one-off from a repeated problem that costs purchases.
- Give owners proof while there is still time to act. Share the exact shopper moment with the team that can fix it before peak traffic shows the issue at scale.
What to audit
Friction points Session Replay uncovers
Where could you lose the most revenue when traffic peaks?
Watch the sessions behind your largest cart and checkout drop-off. Look for repeated barriers that affect more shoppers as volume rises.
Is your promotion helping shoppers buy, or making purchase harder?
Review sessions from shoppers who use seasonal offers or promo codes. Look for rejected codes, unclear terms, or discounts that are hard to apply before checkout.
What should you fix before it becomes a peak-season problem?
Compare shoppers who purchased with shoppers who left at the same step. Focus on the difference most likely to protect completed purchases.

Uncover your biggest leaks today
Start with a saved funnel you already use for a real outcome, such as a campaign landing page, signup, checkout, upgrade, or support flow. Investigate the step that matters to your question. You don't need to create a purchase funnel, a holiday funnel, or a two-step funnel.
- 1
Open a saved funnel you already use
Choose any funnel tied to a real business outcome. If you don't have a purchase funnel, you don't need to create one to take this course.
- 2
Choose one moment to investigate
Select the converted or dropped-off portion of the step where you see an important gap. You don't need a second, preceding step. The step you select is the starting point for Microscope.
- 3
Open the matching replays
In Microscope, select Watch Session Replays. When the funnel uses the Conversion measure, you can open replays for people who converted or dropped off at that step. View Session Replay from a chart.
- 4
Watch for repeated friction
Review two or three sessions when they're available. Look for what shoppers tried, what failed, and whether the experience differed from people who made it through. Signals include an unresponsive button, a failed form, unclear navigation, repeated clicks, or an error.
- 5
Capture the next action
Copy the replay link or add the replay to a notebook. Then write one sentence: "Users are dropping because ___; we should test ___."
Can't open Watch Session Replays?
If Watch Session Replays is missing or disabled, check that your funnel uses Conversion and a recent date range. Replay availability depends on your organization's retention period. If you still can't open replays, ask your Amplitude admin whether Session Replay is set up for this project.

Look at my e-commerce purchase funnel [funnel name] for the last [time range]. Find the step where shoppers drop off most, especially between product view, cart, checkout, and purchase. Review Session Replays of shoppers who dropped off and compare them with shoppers who purchased. Identify the top 3 barriers to conversion, including cart abandonment, promo-code issues, shipping or payment friction, and product comparison behavior. Link an example replay for each and recommend the one fix to test before Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
