Move from Event Segmentation or User Sessions to Metric Explorer
このページはまだあなたの言語に翻訳されていません。 現在取り組んでいますので、後でもう一度確認してください。
Metric Explorer is where new event and session analysis starts in Amplitude. It combines Event Segmentation (counting and comparing events) and User Sessions (visit-based metrics) in one chart. Every building block carries over: events, Measured as, segments, group-bys, formulas, and Microscope. The difference is where you set them. In Metric Explorer, each metric has its own measurement, filters, group-bys, and smoothing, instead of one setting for the whole chart.
Existing Event Segmentation and User Sessions charts keep working. You can upgrade any of them to Metric Explorer in place.
Map Event Segmentation workflows
| In Event Segmentation | In Metric Explorer |
|---|---|
| Add events in the Events module | Add each event as a metric in the Metrics block. Each metric gets a letter (A, B, C) for formulas. |
| Choose one measurement in the Measured As module for every event | Choose Measured as on each metric. Unique users of Sign Up, event totals of Purchase, and revenue can share a chart. |
| Uniques, Event Totals, Active %, Average, Frequency, Properties | Unique Users, Event Totals, % of Active Users, Avg Event per User, Frequency, and the property measurements, plus Frequency Percentile, Revenue, Average Revenue per Active User, and Semantic Totals |
| Group by on an event | + Group-by on the metric. Up to 5 group-bys per metric. |
| Group segment by | Group Segment by, applied across all metrics |
Formula mode, for example UNIQUES(A)/TOTALS(B) | Click fx and write A/B. Each input's measurement comes from its own Measured as. |
| Advanced: Rolling Average, Rolling Window, Cumulative for the chart | The same options under Advanced in each event metric's ⋮ menu, so one series can be smoothed while others stay raw |
| In-line custom events | Combine events inline from the metric's ⋮ menu, then + Add event inline |
| Microscope on a data point | Microscope on a data point. Event and session series offer the user-level actions. |
Map User Sessions workflows
| In User Sessions | In Metric Explorer |
|---|---|
| Count sessions in the Sessions module | Add an event and choose a measurement from Measured as > Session. Select [Amplitude] Any Active Event to count all sessions, or another event to count sessions that contain it. |
| One measurement for the chart: Total Sessions, Time Spent, Time Spent per User, Avg Length, Length Distribution, Avg Per User | A measurement per metric: Total Sessions, Total Session Duration, Time Spent per User, Average Session Duration, Distribution of Session Length, and Average Sessions per User |
| Count events within sessions, measured as Average Events per Sessions | Events per Session |
Filter by Contains Event, Session Duration, First Property value, or Last Property value | + Filter by on the session metric: [Amplitude] Contains Event, [Amplitude] Session Duration, [Amplitude] First Property Value, or [Amplitude] Last Property Value |
Formula %:SESSIONTOTALS(A)/SESSIONTOTALS(B) for bounce, entry, or exit rate | The [Amplitude] Bounce Rate, [Amplitude] Entry Rate, and [Amplitude] Exit Rate metrics, or %:A/B across two session metrics |
| Group by a property, or by its first or last value in the session | + Group-by on the session metric, with [Amplitude] Any Property Value, [Amplitude] First Property Value, or [Amplitude] Last Property Value |
Metric Explorer also supports what neither older chart can: several session metrics with different measurements on one chart, session metrics next to event metrics, and hybrid formulas such as revenue per session. For examples, go to Metric Explorer use cases.
Upgrade a chart in place
Upgrade an Event Segmentation or User Sessions chart to keep its link, dashboard placement, and definition while you continue the analysis in Metric Explorer.
- Open the Event Segmentation or User Sessions chart.
- Click Try Metric Explorer. The button appears in the banner at the top of the chart. After you dismiss the banner, it appears next to the chart type.
- Review the converted chart. Each event or session becomes a metric that carries the chart's measurement.
- Click Save to replace the saved chart with the Metric Explorer version.
To keep the original chart and open the converted version in a new tab, hold Cmd (Mac), Ctrl (Windows), or Shift while you click Try Metric Explorer.
The upgrade carries over:
- Measurements, applied to each metric.
- Filters and group-bys on each event or session.
- Segments, including Group segment by.
- Date range and interval.
- Formulas, which become Metric Explorer formulas. A
%:prefix carries over, so percentage formulas still display as percentages.
Create an Event Segmentation or User Sessions chart
Event Segmentation and User Sessions remain available for new charts. Create a chart, click the chart type name, and choose Event Segmentation or User Sessions before you add metrics.
