Inflection

The Amplitude Inflection integration streams events and user properties from Amplitude to Inflection. Use Amplitude product activity to build audiences, trigger journeys, and personalize messaging in Inflection.

Use cases

  • Onboarding journeys: Trigger personalized onboarding sequences when a user completes a key product milestone, like activating a core feature.
  • Re-engagement: Identify users who haven't returned to a feature in a set number of days and enroll them in a targeted campaign.
  • Feature adoption: Nudge users who've activated a product area but haven't converted to deeper usage.
  • Unified audiences: Combine Amplitude behavioral data with attributes from other sources in Inflection to build more precise audience segments.

Considerations

  • This integration is unidirectional. Amplitude sends data to Inflection; Inflection can't send data back to Amplitude.
  • You need admin access to both your Amplitude project and your Inflection workspace.
  • Contact the Inflection team before setup to get your X-Inflection-App-Id value.

Set up the integration

Prerequisites

To configure streaming from Amplitude to Inflection, you need:

  • An Amplitude account with permission to configure destinations.
  • An Inflection account with admin access.
  • An Inflection API key and endpoint URL (generated in Inflection).
  • An X-Inflection-App-Id value from the Inflection team.

Inflection setup

  1. In Inflection, navigate to Connections and select Amplitude.
  2. Click Generate API Key.
  3. Copy the API key and note the endpoint URL. You need both when configuring Amplitude.

Create a new sync

This integration uses Amplitude's Webhook destination with Inflection-specific credentials.

  1. In Amplitude Data, click Catalog and select the Destinations tab.
  2. Search for Webhook and select Webhook: Events · User Properties.
  3. Enter a sync name, then click Create Sync.

Enter credentials

  1. In Webhook URL, enter https://amplitude.webhook.inflection.io/integrations/amplitude/events.
  2. Add the following headers:
    • Authorization: Bearer <your-inflection-api-key>
    • X-Inflection-App-Id: <your-inflection-app-id>

Configure event forwarding

  1. Configure the event payload using a FreeMarker template. Refer to Inflection's documentation for the recommended event payload template.
  2. Under Send Events, enable the toggle to stream events to Inflection. Amplitude forwards events when it ingests them; this integration doesn't send events on a schedule or on demand.
  3. In Select and filter events, choose which events you want to send. Send only the events you need in Inflection.

Configure user forwarding

  1. Configure the user payload using a FreeMarker template. Refer to Inflection's documentation for the recommended user payload template.
  2. Under Send Users, enable the toggle to stream user property updates to Inflection. Amplitude sends users when it receives an event and when you call the Identify API.

Enable sync

When you finish your configuration, toggle the Status to Enabled at the top of the page and click Save.
