Planhat

Planhat is a customer platform built to give insights, manage workflow, and drive customer experience. Planhat helps technology companies center their business around customers to maximize customer success and lifetime value. Amplitude Data's Planhat integration sends a continuous, real-time stream of events as User Activities at the End User, Asset, or Project level.

Use cases

Sending Amplitude data into Planhat lets you act on product usage in the context of other customer data.

  • Create balanced customer health scores and customer segments by consolidating event data with invoices, tickets, meetings, revenue, forecasts, and CSM sentiment.
  • Create and update sales opportunities based on event signals such as elevated product usage.
  • Trigger workflows and actions in response to event data like user "logged In" to drive proactive customer management.
  • Automate end user email campaigns based on event data like "last seen more than a week ago" with embedded analytics on email opens and clicks.
  • Visualize event data in custom dashboards directly shareable with customers through portals.

Considerations

Keep these points in mind when sending events to Planhat:

  • Enable this integration in each Amplitude project that needs it.
  • You must be an admin of a paid Planhat plan to enable this integration.
  • Amplitude matches the user_id to the End User externalId in Planhat for associated events. If a user with that externalId doesn't exist in Planhat, Amplitude creates one. The Amplitude user_id field must match the Planhat user externalId field to avoid user duplication.
  • Event limits for Planhat: Maximum size of event data is 1 MB.
  • Amplitude sends all user, event, and group properties along with the event.
  • The Planhat Analytics endpoint is a "data sink", so it always returns status 200 (OK) even when the payload has an error. Refer to Planhat's API documentation for details.

Set up the integration

Refer to the Planhat documentation for more details.

Prerequisites

To configure an Event Streaming integration from Amplitude to Planhat, you need the following from Planhat:

  • Tenant Token: To send data into Planhat, get your API Key. Refer to the Planhat documentation for help.

Planhat setup

Confirm that:

  • Planhat End User, Company, or Asset/Project externalIds match the corresponding IDs in Amplitude.
  • You have your Tenant Token to set up the integration from Amplitude.

There are no other setup steps in Planhat.

Amplitude setup

  1. In Amplitude, go to Data Destinations, then find Planhat - Event Stream.
  2. Enter a sync name, then click Create Sync.
  3. Toggle Status from Disabled to Enabled.
  4. Paste your Tenant Token.
  5. Toggle the Send events filter to select the events to send. You can send all events, but Amplitude recommends choosing the most important ones.
  6. Use the Event Properties filter to select which event properties to send.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click the Mappings tab.
  9. Choose your user identifier and map other properties from Amplitude to Planhat.
    1. After you choose the identifier, click Save.
    2. You can also specify "companyExternalId", which is advisable when an End User is associated with multiple companies, or when End User email domains don't always match Company Related Domains, requiring creation of End Users from events.
  10. Click Save.
