Description: We've updated the default tools available in the External MCP server based on recent usage, testing, and tool additions! Users can now edit charts, create dashboards / experiments / cohorts, and fetch user, cohort, and customer feedback data via AI clients like Claude Code and Cursor.
New tools enabled:
• save_chart_edits, create_dashboard, create_experiment, create_cohort
• get_cohorts
• get_users
• get_feedback_insights, get_feedback_comments, get_feedback_mentions, get_feedback_sources
Deprecated Tools (turned off due to very low usage):
• get_flags, get_metrics, query_metric, and get_notebook
Why: • Unlock creation workflows: Previously customers could only read and analyze Amplitude data in Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor. Now they can create content (charts, dashboards, experiments, cohorts) directly using external AI clients, agents, and workflows. • New data sources: more internal teams have helped build new MCP tools like cohorts, users, and customer feedback which makes more data available to analyze • Improved performance: We removed underutilized tools (flags, metrics, queries, notebooks) to reduce context spent while using our MCP server.
When + Where: Live as of 1/9/26 in both Amplitude USDC + EUDC
