How we sourced these numbers
Benchmark volume: 5M events — a typical mid-market SaaS footprint. Different vendors meter on different units (events vs MTUs vs sessions vs MAUs vs context keys), and the numbers below normalize to this event volume where possible. Amplitude lets customers choose between MTU-based and event-based billing; where this analysis cross-references the two, it assumes a typical events-per-MTU ratio of ~1,000 (Amplitude's internal benchmark).
- Amplitude Plus: Amplitude offers both MTU-based and event-based billing — customers choose. At ~5M events (typical for ~5K MTUs at a 1,000 events-per-MTU ratio), the annual contract is $5,388 prepay or $561/mo monthly billing. Per amplitude.com/pricing. Plus caps at 25M events.
- ContentSquare: Sales-only except entry Growth tier ($40/mo, 7K sessions). Vendr 2026 benchmark: small deployments $30–80K/yr, mid-market $50–150K/yr, enterprise $200–500K+. ContentSquare acquired Heap in 2024, so the platform now spans DXA + product analytics.
- Pendo Base: Sales-only. Entry paid tier includes Product Analytics + In-app Guides only — Session Replay, NPS Sentiment, Orchestrate, Listen, and Data Sync are add-ons or higher tiers. - Optimizely / One Platform: Sales-only with no published rates. No free, starter, or essentials tier exists — Optimizely discontinued its free Starter plan in 2018.
