Amplitude’s mission couldn’t be simpler—we help people build better products and digital experiences. That’s why we built the broadest and deepest digital analytics platform on the market. Teams around the world use it to gain a deeper understanding of user behaviors and build great digital experiences that deliver the outcomes they want. That could be improving user onboarding, increasing feature adoption, optimizing conversion, or personalizing experiences.

However, customers have often asked if we could go further. They rely on Amplitude to get insights about their users, but they also want our help encouraging the user behaviors they want. They’ve asked for guides to help with onboarding, ways to share announcements with their users directly in the app, and the ability to capture user feedback in real time.

We started to explore how we could offer these capabilities to our customers, but we wanted to do it in a way that was better than the status quo. In this AI-powered world, couldn’t these user assistance technologies actually help customers instead of annoy them? Couldn’t they be dynamic based on the task at hand rather than generic pop-ups?

That’s when we met the Command AI team. They’re solving this exact problem in a new way—powered by AI.

Why we love Command AI

Command AI provides intuitive, AI-powered user assistance to make complex software easier to adopt and navigate. It offers in-product nudges and tours, onboarding guides, and surveys. And it does all of this in a non-annoying way. I know what you’re thinking: "Product popups? Those are so irritating." I agree, and I promise, this isn’t that.

Command AI’s co-founders, James Evans and Vinay Ayyala, built the next generation of digital adoption technology by putting the user first and using AI to personalize their experience. Its in-product prompts take user emotions, like confusion and frustration, into account. So if someone is rage-clicking, it’s probably not the right time to promote a special offer. Command AI also offers precise user targeting, contextual triggers, rate limits, and dozens of other big-little details that make the experience great.

The result is a guided user journey that is personalized, unobtrusive, and actually helpful. Users love it because it sets them up to be successful. Companies love it because they can encourage the behaviors they want and help users find more value faster. Check out their glowing reviews on G2.

Some acquisitions just make sense. The technologies complement each other. And the teams have a similar culture and philosophy. This is one of those instances.

Amplitude has already built the industry’s broadest and deepest digital analytics platform, including Analytics, Session Replay, Experiment, and CDP. We help teams deeply understand their customers, giving them visibility into what users are doing in the product and where they’re getting stuck. But these insights are just the beginning.

We want to make it easy for teams to take action so they can build products and digital experiences that users love. By adding Command AI to the Amplitude platform, we will take this ability to the next level. Now, every insight in Amplitude becomes actionable. This means that you can engage the right users at the right time with the right experiences.

The best part is that Amplitude makes everything Command AI does more powerful.

  • You want to offer different guides to different users at different times. Amplitude’s cohorting makes this easy.
  • You want to test different versions of product tours to determine which are most effective. Amplitude Experiment makes this possible.
  • You want to see if user feedback matches what they’re doing in the product. Amplitude Session Replay lets you do this.

Those are just a few examples, and Amplitude expects to release an integrated experience early next year. Command AI’s advanced capabilities will also strengthen the Amplitude platform, helping our customers to better understand user intent, access insights faster, and offer more tailored user experiences.

We’ve always believed that product innovation is the best way to provide long-term value to our customers, and that’s never going to change. Our Command AI acquisition accelerates this goal so we can become the all-in-one platform for driving user growth, satisfaction, retention, and expansion.
