The following note was sent to Amplitude employees this morning.

Amplitude! Today is a special day, our first day as a public company. Thank you for your dedication, commitment, and care you’ve put into building Amplitude and getting us to this extraordinary milestone. You are what brought us here.

Becoming a public company is just one step on the long journey to building a generational technology company. We founded Amplitude ten years ago to help companies build data-driven products. Back then, we knew that data would change the way people built products. Data is a powerful way to understand what people want. Don’t look at what people tell you, look at what they do.

Ten years later what we’ve realized is that this trend is bigger than any of us could have imagined. Every single company is becoming a product-led company. And every single product team needs to become data-driven or they will be left behind. We now have a name for it too: digital optimization! The way we build products will be reshaped and we are not going back.

Since we started Amplitude, we’ve worked with so many companies to embrace this new approach. We’ve partnered with some of the most innovative companies in tech including Twitter, Dropbox, Paypal, and Atlassian. What’s been really exciting is how many non-tech companies partner with us including Walmart, NBCUniversal, and Ford. Today, 26 of the Fortune 100 use Amplitude and that number will continue to grow.

The last thing I want to say is we’re in the early days of a long-term trend. We won’t see the full results of it play out in the next quarter or next year. It will take decades. And that’s what we’re here to do at Amplitude. We’re in it for the long term. Congratulations on an amazing finish to part 1 of Amplitude and we’re excited for the start of part 2!
